Overview

A thriving, modern small animal practice in Thurrock is looking for a Lead / Head Veterinary Surgeon. The team includes 3 vets, a clinical director, 3 RVNs, 3 SVNs and a full management and client care team, and the practice is a VetGDP training practice. Facilities include digital and dental X-ray, flexible endoscopy, access to CT, orthopaedic kit (including TPLO), laparoscopic spays and laser therapy. The Clinical Director has over 18 years of UK experience and a passion for mentoring.

Full time (40 to 41 hours per week), with part time hours considered. 1 in 4 weekends (Sat 9am to 6pm, Sun 10:30am to 4:30pm) and bank holidays on a rota basis. No OOH.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the clinical team in a first opinion small animal setting
• Routine and advanced surgical work, with a keen interest in internal medicine desirable
• Contribute to mentoring and developing colleagues

Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Ideally a minimum of 3 years UK small animal experience, confident with routine surgical procedures
• Experienced vet ready to progress into a higher role
• Excellent communication skills and a caring, team-player approach
• Certificate holders, or those working towards one, are highly encouraged
