DIGITAL MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER

Location: Greater Manchester, Office Based (Full Time)
Salary: £29,000 to £33,000 

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for an experienced and adaptable counsellor to join a high-performing digital mental health team supporting adults across the UK.

This is not a traditional private practice or community counselling role. You'll be working in a fast-paced, technology-led environment where every day is different. You'll be expected to make confident clinical decisions, manage a varied caseload and respond to individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Deliver professional therapeutic support through digital channels including video, live messaging and written communication.

• Conduct structured clinical assessments to understand presenting concerns, identify risk and determine the most appropriate support pathway.

• Respond confidently to clients experiencing emotional distress, crisis or complex life events.

• Independently assess and manage safeguarding concerns, suicide risk and situations requiring urgent intervention.

• Deliver evidence-informed, short-term therapeutic interventions focused on helping clients achieve meaningful progress.

• Build strong therapeutic relationships within a brief intervention model.

• Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records using electronic case management systems.

• Manage an active caseload while prioritising urgent presentations and meeting agreed service standards.

• Work closely with clinical colleagues to discuss complex cases and maintain safe practice.

• Adapt quickly to changing demand, fluctuating workloads and a diverse range of client presentations.

• Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality and ethical practice at all times.

• Engage fully with clinical supervision, quality assurance, CPD and ongoing training.

• Contribute positively to a collaborative, performance-focused clinical team.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Essential

• Level 4 Diploma in Counselling or above.

• Minimum of 150 supervised counselling hours.

• At least 12 months post qualification counselling experience.

• Registered membership with the BACP, NCPS, UKCP or another recognised professional body.

• Demonstrable experience assessing and managing clinical risk independently, including suicidal ideation, self-harm and safeguarding concerns.

• Experience supporting clients presenting with anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, workplace stress and other common mental health concerns.

• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to communicate therapeutically through digital platforms.

• Strong IT skills and confidence using multiple digital systems simultaneously.

• Ability to make sound clinical decisions in a structured, high-volume environment.

• Comfortable managing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

• Resilient, emotionally aware and able to remain calm when working with distressed individuals.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
