Working as a Senior Social Worker within Children’s Services, you will be assessing, risk assessing and providing a service to children and their families, where possible maintaining children in their families. In situations where risk cannot be managed, to develop plans which keep children safe and able to achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working as part of a team, undertaking tasks on a duty rotational basis, and providing cover for absent colleagues.
- Promoting signs of safety as the model of social work.
- Having case responsibility for children and young people in complex circumstances.
- Providing guidance, mentoring and support to less experienced staff in their work.
- Taking the lead in the team for specific crosscutting issues such as CSE, missing from home or care, at the determination of the Team Manager or Senior Manager.
- Identifying risk issues in relation to the circumstances of individual children, and to ensure that there is safeguarding in place in order to minimise risk.
- Ensuring that the needs of individuals and their carers are assessed holistically, packages of care negotiated, monitored and reviewed.
Requirements:
- Social Work Degree.
- Registration as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales
- Extensive post qualifying experience within Children’s Services.
- Experience of undertaking assessments of needs and identifying risks.
- Ability to work on own initiative within a high pressured work setting.
- An enthusiastic motivated professional worker who is committed to improving outcomes for children, young people.
