We are seeking a compassionate Learning Disabilities Support Worker to join a dedicated team in Diss. The successful candidate will provide personalised care and support to individuals with learning disabilities, promoting independence and enhancing their quality of life. You will work closely with service users, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure holistic and person-centred care.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting individuals with learning disabilities in daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and mobility.
- Encouraging service users to develop life skills and engage in community activities, fostering self-confidence and autonomy.
- Supporting the development and implementation of individualised care plans tailored to each service user’s needs, abilities, and preferences.
- Offering emotional support, helping individuals build relationships, engage in social activities, and reduce feelings of isolation.
- Maintaining open, effective communication with service users, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensuring a safe and supportive environment by adhering to health and safety policies and safeguarding protocols.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care.
- Previous experience working with individuals with learning disabilities or within a similar care setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
- Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
