Job description

As a Children’s Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You will work with families and other professionals to assess needs, provide support, and implement care plans that ensure the safety and well-being of children. Your role will involve working closely with children and their families, addressing issues such as abuse, neglect, and family breakdown.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of children’s and families’ needs and risks.
  • Developing and implementing effective intervention plans to address identified issues and support positive outcomes.
  • Managing a caseload of children and families, ensuring timely and effective delivery of services and interventions.
  • Monitoring progress and reviewing cases regularly.
  • Ensuring that children are protected from harm and abuse by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Taking appropriate action to address any concerns about child safety.
  • Providing emotional support and practical assistance to children and families.
  • Advocating on behalf of children and work to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Working closely with other professionals, including teachers, healthcare providers, and law enforcement, to coordinate services and support for children and families.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of casework, including assessments, care plans, and progress reports.
  • Preparing reports and documentation for court proceedings as required.

Requirements:

  • A recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
  • Previous experience in a social work role, preferably with children and families.
  • The ability to manage a challenging and demanding caseload, with strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to handle stressful situations.
  • Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Experience in safeguarding and child protection is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate and non-judgmental approach, with a genuine commitment to improving the lives of children and families.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
