Social Work Team Manager - Migrant Children & Families - Hackney
Package
- £33.54 per hour
- Locum assignment from December 2026 to July 2027
- Full time, 36 hours per week
Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Social Work Team Manager to lead a Migrant Children & Families team within a local authority Children and Families Service in Hackney. You will manage a team of up to 10 staff, including Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, practitioners and business support, and be accountable for the quality and timeliness of statutory social work with children and families.
Responsibilities
- Lead, allocate and oversee the work of the social work team, ensuring statutory timescales and practice standards are met
- Quality assure assessments, intervention plans, Child Protection Plans and Children in Care plans
- Provide regular professional supervision, appraisals and development to staff
- Carry out joint visits with practitioners and offer advice and oversight on direct work
- Oversee court work and prepare reports on complex cases in line with the London Child Protection Procedures
- Manage performance, conduct and staffing matters in line with council frameworks
- Manage the team budget and commission services where needed
- Build strong partnerships with other agencies and deputise for the Service Manager when required
Requirements
- Social work qualification and current Social Work England registration
- Substantial UK statutory children's social work experience, including child protection, children in care and court work
- Proven experience as a Team Manager (or established Assistant Team Manager / Practice Manager) in a children's local authority team
- Experience with unaccompanied asylum seeking children, migrant families or No Recourse to Public Funds work is an advantage
- Systemic, anti-racist and trauma-informed approach to practice
- Enhanced DBS
