Archer Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of a national provider of psychological support services for an experienced Overnight Crisis & Wellbeing Counsellor.
This is an opportunity to work within a busy 24-hour emotional support service, providing immediate telephone-based support to individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties. You will regularly support callers presenting in acute emotional distress, including those experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harm, safeguarding concerns and crisis situations.
This role is best suited to an experienced counsellor who is confident making independent clinical decisions, carrying out comprehensive risk assessments, managing safeguarding concerns and remaining calm when supporting high-risk individuals.
Working overnight, you will play a vital role in ensuring callers receive safe, timely and clinically appropriate support when they need it most.
Deliver high-quality telephone counselling and emotional support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties and emotional distress.
Independently assess risk during every interaction, identifying concerns relating to suicide, self-harm, safeguarding and immediate vulnerability.
Confidently manage callers presenting with suicidal ideation, intent or crisis, making appropriate clinical decisions and following safeguarding procedures where required.
Carry out comprehensive clinical and psychosocial risk assessments, documenting clear risk management plans.
Make independent decisions regarding escalation, safeguarding referrals and emergency intervention where necessary.
Work with adults presenting with complex issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, abuse, domestic violence and significant life crises.
Apply sound safeguarding knowledge when working with vulnerable adults and young people, ensuring concerns are acted upon appropriately.
Provide immediate emotional containment while helping callers identify practical next steps and sources of ongoing support.
Accurately maintain confidential clinical records using the internal case management system.
Liaise appropriately with internal teams and external agencies when risk thresholds require further intervention.
Maintain professional standards in line with your governing body and organisational policies.
Participate in clinical supervision, reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
Level 4 Diploma in Counselling or equivalent recognised qualification.
Registered member of the BACP, NCPS, UKCP or another recognised professional body.
Minimum 150 supervised counselling hours.
At least 12 months' post-qualification counselling experience.
Significant experience independently assessing and managing clinical risk.
Demonstrable experience supporting individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, self-harm or mental health crisis.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies and reporting procedures.
Confidence making autonomous clinical decisions without direct supervision.
Excellent telephone communication and active listening skills.
