Location: Dumfries, Dumfries and Galloway
Contract: Permanent
Salary / Rate: £45,000 - £70,000 per annum
Rota: mixed rota with farm work, small animal surgery and shared out-of-hours support

A client practice in Dumfries is seeking a mixed veterinary surgeon to support a well-established local caseload. The role is based in a long-established rural practice with genuine variety and experienced nurses. The rota is mixed rota with farm work, small animal surgery and shared out-of-hours support.

Practice profile

Key responsibilities

  • Provide practical small animal consults and routine surgery
  • Support farm, equine or smallholder clients depending on practice demand
  • Balance clinical autonomy with strong communication and safe handovers
  • Keep accurate records across a varied rural caseload

Requirements

  • MRCVS registration or eligibility to register with the RCVS
  • Confidence with first-opinion clinical work appropriate to the role
  • A calm, professional approach with clients, colleagues and patients
  • Interest in building longer-term relationships with clients and the wider practice team
