Children's Social Worker

Job description

Working as a Children’s Social Worker, you will be providing support to vulnerable children and families. The successful candidate will be responsible for allocated work, as well as assisting the department in achieving permanence in the best interests of children.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributing to the adequate protection of children from harm by assisting in the assessment of risk, and the delivery of support services.
  • Undertaking comprehensive assessments of potential carers to ensure looked after children receive safe and enhancing family experiences.
  • Producing assessments of Children in Need and their Families in accordance with DoH.
  • Providing reports for departmental meetings, LAC Reviews, CP Case Conferences, Legal Meetings and Court Hearings and attending these when required.
  • Working directly with children and their families, foster carers and permanent alternative carers to ensure the best interests of children are met.
  • Managing any financial arrangements associated with allocated work.
  • Ensuring that Statutory and Professional requirements are met in line with Legislation and DoH Guidance, this including adherence to National Standards in Adoption, Foster Care, and Residential Care.

Requirements:

  • Social Work Degree.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience of working with children and families.
  • Sound knowledge of the Children Act and other appropriate legislation.
  • Enhanced DBS, dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.

  • Duration: 3 - 6 months initially
  • Hours: 9 - 5 ~ Hybrid
