Childrens Home Worker

Job description

We are seeking compassionate and motivated Children's Home Workers to join a dedicated team in Derby. The successful candidates will provide high-quality care and support to children and young people, promoting their welfare and development in a safe and homely environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing day-to-day care, guidance, and support to children and young people in the home.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with residents, encouraging their social and emotional development.
  • Supporting children in their daily routines, including attending school, appointments, and extracurricular activities.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of individualised care plans, ensuring that the needs and preferences of each child are met.
  • Maintaining a safe and welcoming environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and safeguarding policies.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and managing challenging behaviour effectively and empathetically.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, educators, and healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation, including daily logs and incident reports.
  • Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and supervision to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children and young people in a residential care setting.
  • A relevant qualification in childcare or social care.
  • A strong understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A valid UK driving license is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
