Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Tutor to join our committed education team, specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering engaging, innovative, and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of pupils with ASD and SLD.
  • Implementing effective strategies and interventions to promote the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils with special educational needs.
  • Creating and maintaining a supportive, inclusive learning environment that fosters independence, self-esteem, and confidence.
  • Collaborating closely with SENCOs, support staff, and external professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, identifying areas for development, and providing regular, constructive feedback to inform ongoing learning strategies.
  • Building positive, professional relationships with pupils, parents, and external agencies to support the holistic development and well-being of each student.
  • Actively participating in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to ensure the continual enhancement of SEN provision.

Requirements:

  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, QTLS, PGCE) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching and supporting pupils with ASD and SLD.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, best practices, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching approaches effectively to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the learning environment.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain a new DBS check.
