Head of Service – Children in Care and Care leavers

Job description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans tailored to address the unique complex needs of children in care and care leavers in Jersey.
  • Providing visionary leadership to guide the team in achieving positive outcomes aligned with the organisation's mission and values.
  • Overseeing the delivery of support services, ensuring they align with the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
  • Establishing and maintaining robust quality assurance mechanisms to continually enhance service provision and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Leading and inspiring a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
  • Providing mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members, ensuring continuous growth and improvement.
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Representing the organisation at forums and collaborating with external partners to advocate for the needs of children in care and care leavers.
  • Managing the budget for the Complex Needs, Children in Care, and Care Leavers service, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and financial sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in a leadership role within a similar setting.
  • Relevant professional qualification in social work, child welfare, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of the complexities associated with children in care and care leavers.
  • Familiarity with Jersey's regulatory framework and local context is advantageous.
