Arrest Referral Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Arrest Referral Worker to join our dedicated team. This role involves working closely with individuals in police custody who are impacted by substance use. The aim is to provide crucial support, guidance, and intervention to help break the cycle of addiction-related offenses.

This position is ideal for professionals with experience in substance use support, probation services, or transferable skills that align with offender rehabilitation and harm reduction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments and provide tailored interventions for individuals in police custody.
• Offer advice and referrals to appropriate treatment services to address substance use.
• Engage with vulnerable individuals and motivate them towards positive change.
• Work closely with police and partner agencies to ensure an effective support pathway.
• Deliver harm reduction strategies and assertive engagement to promote well-being.
• Maintain accurate records and case notes to ensure continuity of care and compliance with service standards.

Requirements:

• Experience in substance use work, probation, social work, or related fields.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust with vulnerable individuals.
• A non-judgmental and empathetic approach to supporting people with complex needs.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of harm reduction strategies and substance use-related issues.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends or evenings if required.
