Temporary Accommodation Visiting Officer

Job description

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishing relationships with accommodation providers and their staff.
  • Contributing towards the development and achievement of the annual business and service plans, as well as policies and procedures to ensure the service is effective, efficient and of a high standard.
  • Monitoring of all service provider contracts to deliver the objectives required from various service delivery contracts.
  • Being responsible for contract liaison with managing agents and individual landlords.
  • Fostering partnerships for working with the corporate procurement service in the development of schemes.
  • Ensuring all leased property documentation insurances and certificates are obtained and verified.
  • Responding to any complaints related to temporary accommodation.
  • Mentoring both new members of staff and staff from other areas in legislation practise, procedures, performance of duties and guidance in the acquisition of properties.

Requirements:

  • Certificate of high education; NVQ level 4; HND, BTEC Professional; and equivalent qualifications, or evidence of demonstrable application in the course of experience.
  • A good knowledge of all homelessness legislation as covered by the 1996 Housing Act.
  • A good knowledge of housing benefit rules and regulations, welfare benefits and issues relating to private rented tenancies.
  • Experience of working within a private rented sector housing industry.
  • Knowledge of temporary accommodation and the issues affecting people living in TA, their aspirations and vulnerability.
  • Experience of working in a customer focussed environment.
  • Enhanced DBS, dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
