KS2 SEND Teacher

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND teacher to join a committed teaching team as a Supply KS2 Class Teacher, specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs and abilities of pupils with ASD and SLD in a KS2 classroom environment.
  • Implementing effective strategies and interventions to support the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Creating and maintaining a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence, and self-esteem among pupils with SEND.
  • Collaborating with the SENCO, support staff, and other members of the school team to develop and implementing Individual Education Plans and behaviour management strategies for pupils with ASD and SLD.
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, identifying areas for development and providing regular feedback to inform teaching and learning strategies.
  • Establishing positive relationships with pupils, parents, and external agencies, maintaining open communication and partnership working to support the holistic needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Participating in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of SEND provision.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent recognised teaching status.
  • Experience teaching pupils with ASD and SLD in a KS2 classroom setting.
  • Sound knowledge of SEND legislation, best practices, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the classroom and school community.
  • Enhanced DBS, dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
