Job description

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for working with a committed team providing support to the communication, behavioural and learning needs of young people aged between 2 - 19 with complex learning disabilities and autism. The successful candidate will have their own caseload and will work in partnership with their colleagues to ensure delivery of a high quality service.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Complying with national and local standards and guidelines concerning Professional Practice within legal frameworks, while considering professional and ethical principles.
  • Maintaining professional standards, as well as demonstrating a commitment to personal development and acquisition of further skills and knowledge.
  • Contributing to the growth of the Speech and Language Therapy Team.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Being responsible for assessing, differentially diagnosing, formulating treatment plans, writing assessment reports, providing appropriate intervention, and evaluating treatment outcomes for every child.
  • If trained, you will be assessing and managing eating and drinking needs of students.
  • Demonstrating commitment to personal development and acquisition of further skills and knowledge.
  • Working in partnerships with the students parents / carers.

Requirements:

  • Speech and Language Therapy qualification.
  • Experience of working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and written ability.
  • An interest in developing skills to assess and manage eating and drinking difficulties.
  • Ability to work flexibly.
  • A thorough understanding of the wider issues related to supporting children with profound and severe needs.
