Head of Therapeutic Services

About the role

This senior leadership role provides strategic and operational oversight of therapeutic services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and client-centred support. You will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering individual therapy, group work, body-based approaches, and digital counselling, shaping the direction of clinical services while embedding strong governance, safeguarding, and reflective practice.

This role combines strategic leadership, service development, clinical oversight, and people management to ensure services are accessible, effective, and responsive to client needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and clinical leadership across all therapeutic services, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches.
• Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, line managing senior clinical staff and supporting staff wellbeing, reflective practice, and inclusive leadership.
• Oversee safeguarding and risk management, ensuring robust case oversight, compliance with professional standards, and adherence to legislation.
• Drive service development and innovation, using feedback, data, and best practice to design responsive therapeutic pathways.
• Embed client voice and co-production across service design, delivery, and development.
• Build external partnerships, represent the service externally, and contribute to knowledge-sharing, training, or policy discussions.

Core requirements

• A recognised clinical qualification in psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, social work, or a related discipline.
• Registration or accreditation with a relevant professional body.
• Extensive post-qualification clinical experience, including working with trauma, complex needs, or survivors of abuse.
• Demonstrable experience in senior clinical leadership and managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, and relevant legislation.
